I write mysteries but, judging by my sales and the categories my books sell in, I also seem to write romance. After several discussions in various forums (including here on Goodreads) I'd come to the conclusion that my series going forward needs to contain erotic interludes between my two leads. I've never written a sex scene in my life. I needed a little guidance.

I bought this book with high hopes and it didn't disappoint. It's not a step by step guide, if that's what you're looking for. show more It's more of an overview by several authors of what works with readers and why it does. As at least one other reviewer mentioned, the biology discussion by Jean Johnson was fascinating. I write for a lesbian market though so all the guy/hero talk is useless to me but fascinating none the less. Maybe I'll try my hand at writing straight erotic romance one day...who knows, but I digress.

The writers contributing to this book are all multi-published and well known in their genres. Even though they're very diverse in the sort of erotica they write (romance, kink, LGBT, etc.) they all expound on a few of the same key themes. It's not a spoiler to say that you're going to read a lot in this book about writing emotion and letting your characters emotions show. This isn't about writing porn, it's about writing erotica - works with strong identifiable characters and a plot.

*Please note that this is an x-rated kind of book and my review talks about it.

I had many issues with this book. I felt the language was extremely vulgar for the circumstances. The women of the story were raped and forced to prostitute themselves for food and the terms used just didn't flow with that to me.

Emily escaped and was scared and broken yet when she met Christopher she threw herself at him and talked about how wet he made her. She was captured and brought back to grand central and show more one of the soldiers forced her to go down on him. When she got away and was back with Christopher she had flashbacks of the soldier making her do that and could not go down on him. Just didn't make sense to me that she had flashbacks from this but not the year of hell she just escaped.

At one point Christopher shot and killed someone who was attacking Emily and she totally went off the deep end of being mad. After all the things she was forced to do and endure I felt her reaction was overblown and didn't fit.

Every second Emily and Christopher are doing it. They are in a car trying to sleep yet they just have to have sex right then. They are in an unknown town with unknown people in the next room yet HAVE to have sex. Christopher leaves Emily at the town yet as soon as she comes upon him again they jump each other to have sex. They just seemed to have the urge at every inopportune moment of the book.

Other than those issues the story was decent. The pacing of the story was good and the world building was interesting. I don't feel that I will bother with reading book 2 unfortunately because I couldn't stomach the character that will be the female lead.

I am not your Melody is a sweet cowboy romance with a little steam. It starts with Allie taking a HUGE leap in leaving Miami to become partners in a bar in the Idaho, but little did she know that the bar would be so rough or her partner so surly.

Bill is still suffering from the death of his wife Melody, in in return the happy cowboy has turned in to the meanest bear in Bear Creek Saddle...that is until Allie arrives.

After a bumpy start, Allie and Bills relationship changes into something so show more wonderful, that is until one night changes everything...

I really enjoyed this book, the characters Allie and Bill I liked from the first moment, and some of their moments had me in stitches and some in tears.

I am not your Melody is beautifully written, a very smooth and enjoyable read, though after working in bars myself, I always find it amusing that on how easy working in a bar is in books.

Over all a great cowboy romance with earns 8 out of 10 from me. So if you are looking a cute cowboy romance, this book is for you!

After reading some very negative reviews on this story, I was a little apprehensive. That is why I put a lot of time to start it myself. Yet much ado about nothing because the story is well written, imaginative and enjoyable.

After all it is important to remember that BDSM romances can sometimes get the reader out of his comfort zone. So in this story, the heroine has a problem with self-esteem and rejection towards love. Instead of going to a shrink and begin an analysis, she opted to find show more her own way dealing with her past. She is a magnet subject to enjoy sex while experiencing pain. And this part of her personnality is very well described by the author.

While Elizabeth (some readers too!) may appear as having trouble accepting to be shared by Trevor and Roman, do not forget that the author emphasizes throughout its story that they are consenting adults. From there, the reader can enjoy the story without judging or else he needs to change from register and genre.

I must admit that I am less shocked that Trevor and Roman have sex with the same woman since you just need to go to student's parties, or read the news to note that sharing a partner is not so unusual and that it is not kinky to enjoy a threesome.

On the other hand, if woman is obliged to seek a man's advice to know what are the best options for her own life...That is a concept that perplexes me. So, even if I do not feel close to Elisabeth, the difference in perspective has piqued my curiosity.
Personally, I found Roman's attitude and his final declaration a bit too hasty. Perhaps because throughout the story the reader focuses only on Trevor, a male character who surprised me by being very romantic for BDSM novel...

During my read, I questioned myself about the characters' reactions, about the fact that once again, the heroes were still billionaires but I also had a great time. I will be glad to read "Enamored" and learn more about Marc Wilde... Enjoy!
