Anyone have any thoughts on Caesar's Legion The Epic Saga of Julius Caesar's Elite Tenth Legion and the Armies of Rome by Stephen Dando-Collins the anachronisms drive me nuts as well as the fictionalized descriptions of Caesar's interaction with people. Am I being to hard on this?

I've bought three of the four in this series and hope to read up on them soon.

I have had Ammianus say that Ceasar's Legion is only a 2.5 star read tops.

cheers

Let me say personnaly I found it to be worth reading but not worth keeping. Just an opinion of course.

I haven't read it, but a friend who's deeply into Roman history said the same thing-using current officer titles rather than the Roman ones drove him nuts. Apparently, it gets worse with each book. Too bad, 'cause the idea of a history of each of the major legions is a great idea!

I read Caesar's Legion - the first of his books that I had read. With his information in hand I went looking for Caesar's landing spot in Kent. Wrong information. That makes me suspicious of other information in the book.
