I recently read The Spartan by Caroline Dale Snedeker, which is the story of Aristodemos ("The Coward of Thermopylae") from his childhood through the battle of Plataea. At the end of the book, Ms Snedeker gives two brief excepts from Herodotos about Aristodemos.
What I'm wondering is whether there are any other ancient sources which tell the story of Aristodemos... in other words, how much of his story came from her imagination...
Leonidas is also a central character in the story (Aristodemos' lover, according to her). What are the ancient sources for the life of Leonidas?
